Hori Hori Knife

We all have weeds around our home.  It doesn't matter if you have big garden beds or just dream of a green lawn, weeds are a nightmare.  This is where a Hori Hori Knife is handy.  This gardening trowel doubles as a knife, well it is a knife.  All you have to do is take the knife and insert it into the soil, next to a weed.  If you go at an angle you can cut the root.  This will allow the weed to grow back.  A lot of people try to keep some dandelions because apparently they are good for the bees and other life in your lawn.  You can also eat the greens... I usually try my hardest to get rid of all weeds and take the whole root.  Lets face it, even if you wanted a weed free lawn, that's just a pipe dream.

The Hori-Hori knife originated in Japan, Where it was named after the sound of digging in soil.  It's a single blade with two sharp edges and a tapered tip for plunging into the ground.  The Hori Hori knife was originally used for transplanting vegetation in Japan.  This is a very versatile tool for any gardener.  Commonly the Hori-Hori Knife is carried in a sheath.  This makes it easy to pull out if you need to trim a plant or pull a weed at any given time.

If you have a garden and hate pulling weeds, try this bad boy out!  It's a really fun tool to have out in the garden.  Once you use it to remove weeds you'll never want to go without one again.
