Framing Nail Gun Reviews

Air-Powered vs Cordless

Cordless will never hold up to air powered when it comes to efficiency.  With an air powered nailer you can nail so much faster. The cordless models these days have to charge every time you push in the safety tip or buy canisters.  It's not bad, but it does get annoying if you are doing larger jobs.

The problems with air-powered nailers are cost and setup time. Not only are the nail guns themselves more expensive, but you need a compressor and hose.

Homeowner & Professional Recommendations

- For the Homeowner -
My Recommendation is the Dewalt 20v Framing Nailer.  It's the first gas-free cordless nail gun.  Unlike gas powered nail guns this one works in any weather.  I've used it in the mountains in winter and never had a problem.  It takes a bit to charge each shot, but you'll save money not having to buy gas all the time.  I thought it would run through batteries, but it's really not bad, especially with the larger 20v batteries.  This gun has 2 speeds allowing it to shoot 2"-3 1/2" nails.
- Top of The Line -
The Hitachi NR90AESI 2" to 3 1/2" Framing Nail Gun is top of the line and has been for a while.  Hitachi has done small upgrades to there nailer over the years, but it has stayed basically the same.  This nailer is amazing and hardly ever jams.  The newest upgrade is a new case that is easier to open for maintenance and cleaning.  If you have a compressor already this is the only framing nail gun you'll ever buy.
