Circular Saw Recommendation

Worm Drive vs Sidewinder

If you don't know what these two styles are head over to our Circular Saw description.  This is really going to come down to personal preference, but for a DIY or small Home Improvement job, I'm going to recommend getting a Sidewinder.  These models are less expensive and a lot lighter.  I personally love my Magnesium Worm Drive Skilsaw, but even with the lighter plate, it's pretty heavy.  I will say it cuts wood like butter, which I think has a lot to do with the weight holding itself steady.

Homeowner & Professional Recommendations

- For the Homeowner -
A cordless Circular Saw is going to have plenty of power for anything a homeowner or DIYer is going to do.  I know pros that use nothing but cordless.  I can give you reviews from all of the relevant saws from each company, but that's just a waste of your time.  You don't need to get the best, they're pretty similar.  What you want to do is buy a Drill and Driver Combo with batteries and a charger.  After you pick your dill set just buy the corresponding saw.  So, if you're going to buy a 20V Drill/Driver from Dewalt.  Then you'll want the Dewalt DCS391B 20V Circular Saw.
- Top of The Line -
SKILSAW SPT77WML-01 15-Amp 7-1/4-Inch Lightweight Worm Drive Circular Saw
This is the one.  Skilsaw has been on the forefront of Worm Drive technology since 1937 when they invented the Model 77.  The model is still very similar to the original that set the standard for all Worm Drive Saws.

Pros & Cons: This saw is extremely powerful and seems to stay accurate with minimal adjustment.  The only issue is, even with the lighter plate, it's pretty heavy.  This causes fatigue when using it all day. But, like I say, just get stronger!
