Festool
Do you own an area you call your shop? Well, if you want your shop to be the best, there's one tool company you need to know about. The name is Festool. Now let me start off by saying, they are not inexpensive. They're most likely the highest priced tools on the market, but for good reason. I consider myself lucky for being able to use a Festool once. They are the "Cadillac" of tools and the only company I have never heard a complaint about. On that note, if you are pretty inexperienced, I recommend getting a less expensive Bosch/Dewalt/Milwaukee/Makita. Take that extra few hundred dollars you save and spend it on lessons or materials to experiment with. No tool will make you better, just less frustrated.
For most of my reviews, I do not include the Festool models. They have amazing tools in almost every category, but they come at a much higher price. So, I made this page to give Festool the appreciation it deserves. Festool does an amazing job of protecting the consumer (and I'm not referring to the 2-3 year factory warranty). You don't really think about the danger of dust and particles when, well cut wood just smells so good. In reality, inhalable debris is very bad for you and it can lead to the obvious respiratory issues. On top of breathing problems, inhaling this airborne dust can cause cancer. Festool does a great job by having advanced dust control on most of their saws. They also make multiple kinds of dust extractors (fancy shop vacs) to attach to their tools to maximize dust control. This will mean your shop stays cleaning and your air easier to breath. |
